Hello I’m Fiona,
I am a qualified CBT therapist and Occupational Therapist, and I am dedicated to helping you build confidence, resilience, and balance in your life. I have supported individuals through recovery from eating disorders with a range of additional mental health challenges and neurodevelopmental disorders, including ADHD and ASD.
Therapy with me is about discovering what works for you, unlocking your potential, and taking steps toward the life you want. Together, we’ll focus on your strengths, navigate challenges, and build a foundation for lasting wellbeing.
A Little About Me
I have always been drawn to understanding mental health and how our minds work, how this shapes our behaviour, and how it influences the way we experience the world around us.
I discovered my true passion when I began working in mental health, supporting people living with eating disorders.
That experience led to a long and meaningful career as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner and Clinical Lead, helping individuals of all ages on their journey to recovery.
Over time, I realised I wanted to offer something more personal a space where therapy could move at your pace, with warmth, compassion, and understanding at its heart.
What are eating disorders?
Eating disorders are serious mental health conditions that can affect people of any age, gender, ethnicity, or background. They involve eating behaviours such as restricting food intake, eating large amounts of food in one sitting, or using unhealthy methods to compensate for eating (for example, self-induced vomiting, misuse of laxatives, fasting, or excessive exercise). Some individuals may experience a combination of these behaviours. Eating disorders are thought to develop due to a complex interaction of biological, psychological, and social factors.
It is important to recognise that eating disorders are not solely about food, but are often deeply connected to emotions. Eating behaviours may provide a sense of control or a way of coping with difficult feelings, even if the person is not fully aware of this at the time. An eating disorder is never the individual’s fault, and everyone affected deserves timely, compassionate, and effective support.
Eating disorders can have severe physical and emotional consequences and, in some cases, can be life-threatening. However, despite their seriousness, they are treatable conditions, and recovery is possible with the right help.
Eating disorders I work with
Anorexia Nervosa
Anorexia can result in people significantly reducing how much they eat or drink.
Bulimia Nervosa:
Bulimia is characterised by recurring cycles of consuming large amounts of food, followed by attempts to compensate for the overeating through different behaviours.
Binge Eating Disorder
Binge Eating Disorder (BED) involves consuming large amounts of food while feeling a loss of control over the eating behaviour.
OSFED
If someone’s symptoms don’t neatly align with the criteria for other eating disorders, they may receive a diagnosis of OSFED.
ARFID
ARFID involves avoiding specific foods or food groups, limiting the overall amount eaten, or a combination of both.
Other types of eating disorders include PICA, Rumination disorder, Orthorexia and T1DE.
